June 11 - 12, 2026 | Madrid, Spain | On-site

Environmental quality is one of the most decisive factors in public health, being particularly relevant for children, as it affects their physical and cognitive development. The importance of this issue highlights the need to create a space for the exchange of knowledge and experiences that can contribute to the search for solutions and alternatives.

The International Symposium of Environmental Quality in Educational Spaces (in-SiEqES) is organised within the framework of the research project Lime4Health (PID 2021-123023OA-I00), which focuses on the study of environmental quality in primary schools and its impact on health. Nevertheless, the scope is broadened to address environmental quality in general, covering aspects such as thermal comfort, lighting, noise, and all those factors that determine the well-being of children during school hours. The main objective of the symposium is to create an international forum for the exchange of knowledge on environmental quality, both indoor and outdoor, in primary and secondary educational spaces, and its implications for students’ health, well-being, and learning.

Over two full days, four thematic areas will be addressed:

Through a multidisciplinary approach, the symposium aims to bring together researchers and professionals from architecture, engineering, and health, as well as from botany and biology, physics and chemistry, together with public authorities and education stakeholders, in order to share and discuss scientific advances, practical experiences, and solutions applied in school environments.

The symposium seeks to contribute to the improvement of environmental quality in educational centres, promoting healthier, more sustainable, and safer environments for children.
